Brown receives national teaching recognition
Dr. Gayle Brown, senior lecturer in the College of Veterinary Medicine, received the 2018 Distinguished Teacher Award from the Association of American Veterinary Medical Colleges. The national award recognizes excellence in professional veterinary medical education and is presented to an educator whose sustained record of teaching excellence and ability, dedication, character and leadership has contributed to the profession.
Dell to receive Kennedy Center Gold Medallion
Brad Dell, director of ISU Theatre and associate professor of theatre, will receive the Kennedy Center Gold Medallion at the Region 5 Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, in January. The Kennedy Center Gold Medallion is the most prestigious award given by the festival and is considered one of the highest honors in educational theater.
Xin inducted to hall of fame at U of Nebraska
Hongwei Xin, assistant dean for research in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, director of the Egg Industry Center and Charles F. Curtiss Distinguished Professor in the agricultural and biosystems engineering department, has been inducted into the biological systems engineering department's Hall of Fame at the University of Nebraska. Xin earned master's (1985) and doctoral (1989) degrees from Nebraska.
Gorden elected VP of practitioners group
Dr. Pat Gorden, clinical professor in veterinary diagnostic and production animal medicine, has been elected vice president of the American Association of Bovine Practitioners, effective September 2019. He previously served on numerous committees and task forces of the association.
Soukoulis named national academy fellow
Costas Soukoulis, Ames Laboratory senior scientist and Frances M. Craig Endowed Chair in physics and astronomy and Distinguished Professor in Liberal Arts and Sciences, has been named a 2018 National Academy of Inventors Fellow. He was selected for demonstrating "a highly prolific spirit of innovation in creating or facilitating outstanding inventions that have made a tangible impact on the quality of life, economic development, and welfare of society."
