De León honored as advisor of the year by SHPE
Eliseo De León, an adjunct assistant professor of food science and human nutrition, was honored with the 2017 Advisor of the Year STAR award by the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers at the organization's national conference in November. The award recognizers contributors to the society's mission to “change lives by empowering the Hispanic community to realize its fullest potential and to impact the world through STEM awareness, access, support and development.”
Rico-Gutierrez named senior fellow
Luis Rico-Gutierrez, dean of the College of Design and professor of architecture, was named a senior fellow of the Design Futures Council, a global network of design professionals in design, architecture, engineering and building technology. Granted annually, the senior fellow designation recognizes "clear, acknowledged and measurable contribution to the betterment of the A/E/C (architecture, engineering and construction) industry over the past decade."
Archontoulis selected for innovator award
Assistant professor of agronomy Sotirios Archontoulis is one of eight scientists nationwide to receive the New Innovator Award from the Foundation for Food and Agriculture Research, a nonprofit established by Congressional support in the 2014 Farm Bill. He will lead a team of scientists focusing on water and how it interacts with crops and soil.
Seo selected for leadership fellows program
Hilary Seo, associate dean for curation services and associate professor in the University Library, has been selected for the 2018-19 class of the Association of Research Libraries' Leadership Fellows program. The 30 individuals represent research libraries in the United States and Canada. Activities run from February 2018 to April 2019.
