Hogben named a fellow of math society
Leslie Hogben, professor of mathematics and associate dean for graduate studies and faculty development in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, was among 40 mathematicians around the world selected as a fellow of the American Mathematical Society. The honor recognizes individuals for their outstanding contributions to the creation, exposition, advancement, communication and utilization of mathematics.
Reiman Gardens receives continental recognition
At the International Garden Tourism Conference this month, Reiman Gardens received a North American Garden Tourism award, named to the short list of "North America's Top 10 Gardens Worth Traveling For." Award recipients included gardens in Canada, Mexico and the United States that have distinguished themselves in the development and promotion of the garden experience as a tourism attraction "and truly exemplify the beauty and allure of our continent's horticultural treasures."
Military-Affiliated Student Center named a 'Best for Vets'
Iowa State's Military-Affiliated Student Center has been named to the Military Times' "2023 Best for Vets" college rankings, the largest and most comprehensive annual ranking of schools for military service members and veterans. The rankings are developed from a survey the Military Times data team sends to colleges and universities about their programs for veterans, along with public data about colleges and universities obtained from the U.S. departments of Education and Veterans Affairs.
Gansemer-Topf inducted into Iowa Academy of Education
School of Education professor Ann Gansemer-Topf was inducted into the Iowa Academy of Education in October. The academy informs pre-kindergarten to grade 20 policies and practices through educational research. Members are outstanding Iowa scholars from various fields of study related to all facets of education and student learning.
